We feel very honoured to be able to be taught by Miss Marie Walton-Mahon 3 days a week and in order to keep ourselves progressing and improving as every day rolls over, Miss Marie has given us 'themes of the week.' We will be focusing on these through out all of our classes no matter what genre; open class, pointe work, repertoire, contemporary, jazz and even study time!
This weeks theme is correct alignment and confident turns.
Even though these are themes of the week, we do not forget about them and focus on the next weeks theme, but we apply and add, maintaining and absorbing every correction we get moulding us into future professional dancers.
Working with correct alignment is so important as it will help us strengthen and lengthen our muscles as we grow and start to become the dancers we have been working so hard to be. Correct alignment also helps to keep away injuries as you are always working safely and correctly.
Confident turns during class is a great way to train our bodies in order to feel cool, calm and collected when it comes to the dreaded pirouette section of a performance. Training your body to feel as though it is in the correct alignment with the correct weight placement with every turn you do will make you the brave turner you have always wanted to be.
Stay tuned for next weeks theme and be sure to send us feedback with how you go!
