As our first competition of 2015 is fast approaching we have been working extremely hard with our motif whilst maintaining last week theme of alignment. Articulation or the feet is Miss Marie's focus for this week.
Dancers are usually described to have strong, supple feet providing stability throughout all aspects of dance. Articulation is a crucial part of ballet and requires more thought and awareness than it is given. When asked about articulation, most of us will do a simple tendu however, it is found in far more movements in our ballet vocabulary such as, balances, jumps, pointe work and contemporary. Aside from all the facts, articulation is also key in preventing injuries. We underestimate how powerful it can be, it is what makes dance safe!
Keeping in mind last weeks theme of alignment, go to ballet this week thinking about articulation and you will soon see improvement.
