Its hard to believe that we are well and truly into Miss Marie's theme of week three. We hope that you have enjoyed being back at ballet and already starting to achieve your goals for 2015. Alongside our other teachers at Vocational Ballet College, Miss Marie is helping us achieve ours with the week of épaulement.
Épaulement; rotation of the head and shoulders in relation to the hips in a step or pose. This term refers only to the movement of the body from the waist up.
In previous weeks we have been working on alignment and articulation. Alignment helps to strengthen and lengthen our muscles as we grow and articulation prevents injuries when jumping but also gives you a sense of ease. With these elements in mind, we are now adding épaulement in the upper body. You will find that you start to enjoy what your doing a lot more.
Think about this during class this week and tell us how you go.
